What is Kendo?
Kendo, literally translated, means “The Way of the Sword.” It is an oriental fencing /martial art developed in Japan.
The practitioners use a bamboo sword while wearing protective armor, and make strikes to the head, wrist, torso, and thrust to the throat, each being awarded a point. The first to win 2 points wins the match.
There are deeper principles and theories which surround this raw physical combat to make it a martial art that is more focused on self-development in the areas of respect, discipline, self-control, and overall mental and physical health.
Try Kendo.
